GERMANY IN UPCOMING FIFA WORLD CUP 2022

When Germany travels to Qatar for this year's World Cup, they will be hoping to make up for their performances at the 2018 World Cup, where they unexpectedly came last in their group. Then, in Euro 2020, England put on yet another lacklustre performance and won the round of 16 due to its superior strength. Due to Hansi Flick's desire to create an impression at his first major tournament as the main man, Joachim Low was replaced as the team's manager. After Germany's failure in the FIFA 2018 World Cup, the national squad underwent a shift, and Joachim Low ultimately decided to resign as manager last year. In anticipation of the 2022 tournament in Qatar, Hansi Flick has given his team newfound hope, and Germany's World Cup history puts them in a good position. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Thomas Muller, two stalwarts for Bayern Munich, appear to be playing in their final World Cup, but Flick's Bavarian teammates may hold the key in Qatar. The four-time World Cup champions were not given an easy draw, though, as they will compete in Group E against teams like 2010 champion Spain, Asian superpower Japan, and Concacaf participant Costa Rica. Younger athletes have the chance to showcase their skills. Thomas Muller will also have a chance soon. As many commentators have stated, Muller is nearing the end of his career. But he may have the opportunity to do it now to demonstrate that he still has it in him. Although he may not be at his best right now, he is just like Hummels in that he is capable of winning all of the games for the German team by himself. Too many cooks in the kitchen can sabotage the meal in the middle. France had a number of strong personalities on the pitch, which caused them to struggle in previous matches. In the midfield, Germany also has a lot of good players. Joshua Kimmich is still there, but Kai Havertz is the up-and-coming star, Ikay is the accomplished magician, and Reus is happy most of the time.
GOALKEEPERS

If Manuel Neuer is able to overcome his injury issues in time; he will be the goalie for Bayern Munich in Qatar. However, Neuer has missed Bayern's previous few Bundesliga games, and questions about his fitness are beginning to surface. But even if Neuer were to be sidelined because of his fitness issues, Marc-Andre ter Stegen of Barcelona would still be a strong replacement. The third-choice position is being contested by Kevin Trapp of Eintracht Frankfurt and Fulham's Bernd Leno. Oliver Baumann of Hoffenheim will be prepared to step in if any other ailments arise, but it seems doubtful that he will be selected if everyone else is well.

DEFENDERS

The Dortmund duo of Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck will likely start alongside the Real Madrid player, with Antonio Rudiger beginning as one of the center-backs. Although Benjamin Henrichs and Robin Gosens are also capable of playing as full-backs, Thilo Kehrer and David Raum will likely like their chances as the primary choices out wide. Along with promising youngster Armel Bella-Kotchap making a case for himself this season, other choices include Matthias Ginter and perhaps even Mats Hummels. The Neuer-Kimich-Muller spine, which includes Antonio Rudiger, will support the German defence, and Flick's ability to control key areas may prove crucial. Kimmich will be partnered in midfield by Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan, with Leon Goretzka also being added should Germany require an extra midfielder.

MIDFIELDERS

Both defensively-minded players and more imaginative playmakers are readily available for Flick in the midfield. In the middle of the field, Joshua Kimmich appears to be a lock, and players like Ilkay Gundogan, Leon Goretzka, and Julian Brandt will also be hopeful. If trusted, young talent Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz would offer some flair and inventiveness. Along with the goals and ingenuity of Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane on the wings, Joshua Kimmich's skill as a pivot in the middle of the field forms the cornerstone on which Germany is constructed.
