GARETH BALE NOW HOLDS THE ALL-TIME APPEARANCE RECORD, OVERTAKING CHRIS GUNTHER

As a result of his 110th international cap in the World Cup clash against Iran, Gareth Bale has become Wales' all-time appearance record holder, overtaking his teammate Chris Gunther in the longest list of international appearances in the country's history. Bale and Gunter had equaled each other's 109 senior Wales caps prior to kick-off against Iran. Although Bale was included in the starting XI named by manager Rob Page, as well as Gunter among the substitutes, it pushed the former Real Madrid star one step closer to setting a new record.

In the past few years, Gunter, who has been playing his club football in League One since 2020, has not been a regular starter for Wales since 2018 except for a brief run of games in 2021. Despite the fact that the 33-year-old full-back was named on the bench against the United States, it is likely that he will remain on the bench for the remainder of this tournament unless there are any unforeseen defensive injuries. As for goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, he too comes close to getting his 108th cap against Iran, just two caps behind Hennessey.

Currently, Bale holds the record for scoring the most goals for Wales in the history of the nation. In its first World Cup game in 64 years, Wales played against the Americans in its first match since 1949, in which he scored the 41st penalty of his international career. It is worth noting that the match against the Americans was played in the evening, whereas the match against Iran takes place in the morning, when fewer people back home may be able to watch it. The Welsh footballer called for schools in the country to allow students to watch the game in advance. There will be a 10 am kick-off in Wales, so if I was one of the teachers, I would let them watch the game since it starts at 10 am. It is my hope that they will do so. The fact that Wales is participating in the World Cup is a landmark moment in our history," he said. It seems that some of the parents of kids I know want their kids to watch the game, but do not want to take them out of school in order to do so. It is likely that a lot of schools will arrange a game for them to cheer us on and show their support for the team. It's a mini history lesson that I want all of them to know about, and hopefully, it will be a wonderful experience for everyone.”
