As the 54 CAF countries start vying for spots in the North American competition, a record nine teams will advance to the 2026 Fifa World Cup African Qualifiers Stats​, with ten more potentially joining.

Qualifications for the 2026 World Cup in Africa (CAF)

54 teams in 9 groups compete in the first round (November 15, 2023–October 14, 2025); the top team in each group advances to the World Cup, while the top four finishers advance to the playoff semifinals.
Second round (November 10–18, 2025): semifinal, final, and four best group runners-up. The victor advances to the inter-confederation playoffs.
